Eric
I completely agree, I have found that " keyword+local geographic area.com" is a powerful tool for local businesses. It is simple to create a new blog or sub site to add content to. It give business customers an easier way to refer friends to it ( and remember the name) than the business name.
Naturally having another site with complimentary info is also good search food which never hurts.
Great post!
