- The Beu Blog reported that bullet points concerning paid directories [1] have been removed from Google’s Webmaster Guidelines. Does this mean Google has de-valued paid directories like Yahoo! or Business.com? Only time will tell (or a direct statement from Google, of course).
- Need some ideas for obtaining quality links to your website? Justilien Gaspard’s article at Search Engine Watch explains how to utilize Link Marketing [2] and the process of solving customer problems/offering solutions to build links and awareness.
- As part of Search Engine Guide’s “Best Damn” list series [3], the most recent addition offers a checklist for site maps [4]. In this context, sitemaps are discussed as both xml feeds for the search engines and on-site pages used for navigation. My favorite points dealt with keeping your information current and providing descriptive anchor text in the links. Two obvious points that a lot of SEOs obviously miss!
- Impatient SEOs are unsuccessful SEOs. Rand at SEOMoz explained in his most recent “headsmacking tip” that SEO campaigns neeed time to take effect [5]. Reasons include buffer time for the search engines to crawl your site, time for them to crawl your link partners and in general that search algorithms reward slow-burning link building campaigns.
