SEO News Roundup for August 6, 2010

Crafting outstanding content is by no means an easy task. Today’s web is full of different content types, from images to widgets. Take away all those crazy fonts and pretty backgrounds and you’re left with what really matters to SEO. Tad Chef over at SEOptimise shares some advice on how to create content that spreads like wildfire [1]. So don’t take content for granted because you have to craft killer content to get noticed.

A good proposal can change your business by landing that new client that will take you to the next level. A successful proposal starts from a potential opportunity and should proceed through the gathering of thorough information about a client’s needs. Joshua Titsworth from Search Engine Journal offers tips on writing a good SEO proposal [2].  Ultimately, it comes down to the client and optimizing your proposal to fit their needs.

Danny Dover at SEOmozBlog broke out the whiteboard to show us strategies to help dominate our branded search results [3]. Sometimes we focus so much on non-branded keywords it can be easy to lose sight of the terms that define us. Danny points out some great ideas to make sure we rank high for terms we expect to (but don’t always work as hard towards achieving).

Want to learn how to get more exposure while writing less? Of course you do. Jonathan Morrow at Copyblogger wrote a great post about how writing less can make your site more successful [4]. Although the site is mainly geared towards bloggers, I don’t feel it stops there. Search engines love fresh content but freeing up some time to focus on other areas of your site can be equally or more important.

Robert is an Account Executive at Hanapin Marketing [5], a search engine marketing firm focused on generating results through PPC and SEO.
