  • Blogging is one of the great cornerstones of SEO, but can often be a lot of questions to answer – particularly about where you want the blog to reside. Mark Jackson at Search Engine Watch discusses the benefits (and drawbacks) of subdomains, subdirectories, and separate domains when blogging for SEO [1].
  • There are many facets of SEO, and sometimes a great visual aid can help you determine where to focus your efforts first, as well as explain your plan to your clients. Enter the SEO hierarchy of needs chart [2], which is based on Maslow’s psychological diagram of the same name.
  • Randfish, over at SEOmoz posted 5 Common Pieces of SEO Advice I Disagree With [3]. It’s an interesting post, but even more interesting are the comments generated from the post – a lot of readers adding advice based off of their experience.
  • Do you use Digg as a link juicer? Search Engine Watch reported that Digg Goes Nofollow to Reduce Spam [4]. The post explains that Digg will now only follow the “popular links” – but they have not yet decided how popular a link has to be before it is followed.
  • Bing, Bing, Bing! The world is all flutter over Bing and its secrets. Well, Search Engine Watch has posted some very good information on how to optimize for Bing [5]. Honestly, there are no huge surprises here on what appeals to the search engines but this is good to know!
  • Need a good link bait idea? How about 230 of them [6]?! Yep, Thomas over at Portent Interactive has posted a helpful diagram that help get the link bait ideas flowing!
  • SEOWhitehats has a great post on tips to avoid black hat SEO tactics [7]. Black hat SEO tactics are creating a poor user experience, breaking search engine rules and presenting content unethically to search engine spiders they say.

Jessica is an Account Supervisor at Hanapin Marketing [8], a search engine marketing firm focused on generating results through PPC and SEO.
