SEO News Round Up for April 30, 2010

I don’t know that I agree 100% that people who come to your site via any page will continue to other pages looking for the info they need if you make it easy enough, but I do agree with the main premise of this post from Thomas Schmitz at Portent Interactive: it’s probably not in anyone’s best interest to concentrate your SEO efforts on one page or a very limited range of pages. You can drive relevant, converting traffic by creating a wide range of pages that will target your audiences via long-tail keywords. [1] This post is a great reminder of the need to do that, complete with a helpful list of some content types you can consider adding to increase the breadth of your reach in the SERPs.

In their attempt to continue to make search even more user friendly, Google has included a virtual keyboard [2] into the SERPs, and it’s main goal is to benefit searchers that are not using the English language. This post from Search Engine Land reviews how to use your own keyboard to type in a different language, and get the most out of your search.

If you’re worried about conversion rates in the SEO accounts you’re managing, this is a must read post. This how-to guide for conversion rate optimization [3] has a downloadable checklist and discusses tools you can use to ensure that you are driving value for your SEO clients.

One of the most effective ways to help your page rank is also one of the easiest things you can do – add content to your site. [4] A post from Search Engine Guide this week discusses the impact of fresh content on a site’s page rank. It also looks at the pros and cons of hiring a writer verses adding the content yourself.
