The page views have spoken! Below we have gathered SEO Boy’s four most visited, and hopefully most valuable, articles from January. Whether you’re a new or long-time subscriber you may have missed these insightful and helpful SEO management tips. Enjoy!

Analyzing your SEO changes is a lot easier when you have knowledge of the reports available to you.  This month, Bethany’s post about creating custom reports in Google Analytics [1] takes the top spot on SEO Boy.  As Bethany explains, it’s best to outline what your goal is before you start, and to have a general understanding of the basic components making up these reports.  Check out the step-by-step tutorial for setting up a report, and then try making one of your own.  What sort of templates can you come up with?

Check out this article for increasing conversions with Conversion Rate Optimization [2].  CRO is all about testing different aspects of your website, and merging all of your marketing efforts with the common goal of increasing website conversions.  While there’s some CRO vs. SEO debate out there, and both areas have their benefits.  Pure SEO can help your website’s search rankings and traffic, but without some special treatment to your website’s look and flow, you can’t expect it to generate the highest amount of possible conversions.

This month, Rob wrote a Google Goggles product review [3].  The downloadable phone app allows you to take pictures with your phone, and discover search results based on the images.  For example, Rob illustrates the scenario of an international traveler using the text translator to snap a photo of something not in their language, and using Goggles to translate.  Rob breaks down categories available in Google Goggles, including: text, landmarks, books, contact info, artwork, wine and logos.

Erin has some helpful tips for developing your SEO online and offline [4] by taking a look at all of your marketing efforts and determining your goals. Start by mapping out all of your marketing efforts, then begin applying SEO best practices to stream line everything.  When it’s time to update company brochures or write press releases, you can simply add your most important keywords to the copy, so that if the material ever finds its way to the website, it’s SEO ready.

Jessica is an Assistant Account Executive at Hanapin Marketing [5], a search engine marketing firm focused on generating results through PPC and SEO.
