Insights for Search just kinda &quot;happened.&quot;  It&#039;s an off-shoot of Google Trends (which is equally helpful, though doesn&#039;t provide as much data).  Insights for Search is great for learning more about keyword interest and should be a part of everyone&#039;s keyword research process.  But it&#039;s also a good tool to guage potential for launching your SEO into international markets, or micro-targeting specific regions in the US/Canada if necessary.
