If you’ve done any research, you will also find that there are numerous lists of free directories. The quality of the directories that you’ll find in these lists varies significantly. This is the “big one” in regards to free directory submissions. Dmoz is the free directory with the highest quality links. If you haven’t submitted your site to Dzmoz, please stop reading and go do so now. Getting a link from Dmoz can take a while because their review process is very thorough. But this is why their links are quality.

Librarians’ Internet Index (LII) is a publicly-funded website and weekly newsletter serving California, the nation, and the world. Keep in mind, LII does not include sites that are strictly commercial with no freely-accessible information component. You can offer products and services, but you need to have an informational aspect to your site as well.

Ezilon.com allows individuals and companies around the world to easily access information with an emphasis on World regions. Their web directory is sub divided into regions, which includes Europe, North America, Africa, Asia, Oceania, South America and Central America. NOTE: Hey everyone, quick update: Ezilon is no longer accepting free submissions. Their annual fee $69. Bummer!

Your site must be suggested into the most relevant subcategory at the deepest level of their directory structure. So, you’ll have to dig into the directory to find the most relevant subcategory for your link.

whatUSeek started their Web search index in 1995. Their PageRank is rather positive and their URL submission process is extremely easy.
Keep in mind that free directory submissions are a supplemental element of a successful link building campaign. However, if these links are free and releatively easy to acquire, they can help increase your web visibility and enhance your link profile (slightly).
